Dr. Dan Popa

Endowed chair of advanced manufacturing at the University of Louisville

Dr. Dan Popa has more than 20 years' experience conducting applied research and teaching related to robotics and microtechnology, and has received recognition for his work both in the press and academia. 

Popa accepted a professor position at the University of Louisville in late 2015, after learning about the Institute for Product Realization and its mission to connect industry and campus. At the time, Popa had been with another university in Texas for more than a decade, participating in many industrial projects and large contracts.

Popa now is endowed chair of advanced manufacturing in the University of Louisville's computer science and computer engineering department. He also leads the Next Generation Systems research lab, which has more than $1 million in active projects and works in micro-nano technology.
