Dr. Mehmed Kantardzic
Professor of computer engineering and computer sciences and director of the Data Mining Lab
Dr. Mehmed Kantardzic is director of the Data Mining Lab and aa professor of computer engineering and computer sciences at the University of Louisville's J.B. Speed School of Engineering. He also directs the department's graduate studies.
Kantardzic's research focuses on data mining and knowledge discovery, machine learning, soft computing, click fraud detection and prevention, concept drift in streaming data and distributed intelligent systems. He has won numerous awards for his work, and his recent research has been supported by organizations such as the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Treasury and NASA.
Kantardzic has authored six books, including "New Generation of Data Mining Applications” and “Data Mining: Concepts, Models, Methods, and Algorithms," which is widely accepted as the textbook for data mining courses at more than 100 universities worldwide. He also has written more than 30 peer-reviewed journal publications, more than 200 reviewed articles and 20 book chapters.
Kantardzic earned his undergraduate, master's and Ph.D. from the University of Sarajevo, in the areas of computer science and electrical engineering.
