NASA's Out-of-This-World Solutions Within Solutions

  • Shumaker Research Building 139 University of Louisville Louisville, Ky.

Speaker: Bill Meyer, Advanced Research Associates (USRA), NASA Glenn Research Center

This presentation gives a brief overview of NASA’s microgravity colloids program, including some of the scientific highlights and the techniques used to obtain them. We'll also cover recent and planned microgravity colloids research with the Kentucky science teams led by the University of Louisville, including professors Stuart Williams, Gerold Willing and Hemali Rathnayake.

Time allowing, we'll end this presentation with a short movie showing the hand-off of the Janus particles presently being studied on the International Space Station (ISS), plus some “inside” film footage showing the supporting launch and landing of the SpaceX-9 rocket that delivered this experiment to the ISS.
